Following intense nightlong crackdown on the peaceful protesters, the police once again fell vehemently on the nonviolent demonstrators and the media personnel, as soon as the day dawned today.

The unbridled police personnel this morning thrashed media workers of ARY News,Such Tv, News One, AbbTakk News, Dunya TV, Dawan News, Jaag TV and SAMAA TV, for courageously unmasking the hooliganism of riot police. Police badly smashed the cameras and DSNGs of several channels.

The journalist organizations demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to immediately sack IG Islamabad. Rawalpindi Islamabad Unionof Journalists (RIUJ) and National Press Club condemned in strong words the police torture on media persons.

The journalist organizations announced to mount protest demonstrations outside IG office today.

Meantime, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain asserted that it is an utterly tyrannical act by police to subject the journalists to grossly inhuman torture, demanding the government to take a serious note of torture on journalists.

Altaf Hussain demanded summary punishments for those who manhandled the journalists, cameramen and reporters of private news channels.

Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said the journalist organizations announced to participate in the countrywide demonstrations.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) President Afzal Butt demanded PM Sharif, federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to ensure action against the police personnel involved in the torture.
