Tribal leader Barat Khan Orakzai and his son were shot dead in a firing incident in Chaman, Balochistan, while his other son remains in critical condition.
The incident took place on College road at the intersection of Chaman A area and Chaman B area when Orakzai was going to drop his two sons to school. Unidentified men on motorcycles opened fire at their car leading to a loss of Orakzai’s control of the car, causing it to topple over.
Levies personnel arrived at the scene and withdrew the leader and his sons from the car to find that Orakzai had died on the spot. The sons –both critically injured– were admitted to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced the younger son, aged six, dead. The elder of the two, aged eight, is in critical condition doctors have said.
Police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Levies are trying to establish whether Orakzai had some enmity with anyone or whether this was a targeted attack.
