The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) refuted speculations circulating on social media regarding snow fall in the plains of Punjab, terming them as baseless rumors.

In an official statement, the PMD urged the public to disregard fake news.

According to the Met Department, stable weather conditions are anticipated, leading to cold and dry weather in most parts of the country.

Negating the aspects of snow in punjab, the met office said the plains of Punjab are expected to experience very cold weather conditions throughout the next week, with dense fog likely in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh in patches. Frost is also expected in upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region including Islamabad, and Kashmir.

The Met Department further indicated that light rain, accompanied by light snow fall over the mountains, is forecasted in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan on January 13, 16, and 17.

The public is advised to use water judiciously as rainfed areas may remain under water stress conditions.

Due to foggy conditions in plain areas, day temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6 ℃ below normal.

Farmers are encouraged to manage their crops and ensure the well-being of their livestock in warm places during the prevailing cold weather conditions. Additionally, travelers are cautioned to exercise extra caution during foggy days.
