A member of an anti-polio vaccination team worker was gunned down in Khyber Agency on Wednesday. The incident took place in Jamrud Tehsil where unknown gunmen fired shots on a polio vaccinator, sources said.
The injured worker, Fazal Amin, was shifted in critical condition to Hayatabad Medical Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.
Polio vaccination drives are underway across Pakistan, one of only two polio endemic countries left in the world.
A policeman was killed and two others suffered injuries when an explosion hit a police party providing security to a polio vaccination team near Peshawar on Tuesday.
According to police officials, there were two explosions in the area.
The first explosion occurred in the Mewra locality near a roadblock set up by the police for random checking to provide security to polio teams working in the area.
The other blast took place when personnel of the Bomb Disposal Unit were clearing the area, the official said. Policeman Mohammad Zubair sustained injuries in this attack.
