Three Israeli soldiers were killed and two others were seriously wounded in an anti-occupation shooting attack near Silwad town in the West Bank Ramallah province on Thursday.

The Israeli military said in a statement that sounds of gunshots were detected near Gi’vat Asaf settlement outpost and immediately rushed to the scene.

Ynet news said that the attack was a drive-by shooting on Route 60, a central artery that runs through the West Bank. The attack occurred at around 11:15am, some 5km south of the illegal West Bank settlement of Ofra, at the Giv'at Asaf outpost.

Israeli media reported that the attackers managed to flee the area and that the Israeli army forces were chasing them.

A few hours earlier, 29-year-old Saleh Omar Barghouti and Ashraf Na’luwa were assassinated by the Israeli military at dawn Thursday following a military operation targeting anti-occupation attackers.
