He stated this during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo.
Later talking to reporters, Mike Pence said that he assured Sisi that the US is committed to preserving the status quo of holy sites in Jerusalem.
In a statement from the Egyptian presidency said Abdel Fattah al-Sisi told Mike Pence that a solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will only come through negotiations based on a two-state solution.
