Bugatti has unveiled the world’s most expensive new car of all time, the La Voiture Noire – a one-off, blacked-out car made out of some of the best materials this planet has to offer. And it costs nearly $19 million.

Even if you’ve beat all the odds and can shell out the gigantic amount, you’d have to wait some 2.5 years to get behind its wheel.

Because Bugatti made just one car, and it’s already sold to an unidentified buyer (who is that?!) The next one will be made after the French sports car brand has figured out how to replicate the precious thing.

The La Voiture Noire is designed to pay homage to the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic of the 1930s.

Designed by Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of founder Ettore, the 57 Atlantic had an iconic all-black variant, which went missing during the Second World War, and that’s what today’s La Voiture Noire commemorates, Bugatti design director Achim Anscheidt told The Verge.

Only four of the 57 Atlantic cars were made, and only three are known to survive.

The fourth reportedly disappeared shortly before the German invasion of France during World War II. Its whereabouts remain unknown.
