    The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that all stolen, smuggled and unregistered devices will be blocked at midnight today.

    PTA had earlier announced that stolen, smuggled and unregistered devices will not work after October 20, 2018, however, the deadline was extended till January 15.

    A notification issued by PTA stated that all stolen, smuggled and unregistered devices will not work after midnight today.

    PTA spokesperson Tayyaba Iftikhar said, “Those phones which have been stolen and have been reported to the authority will be blocked after midnight.”

    Further, phones which will be stolen or snatched will be immediately blocked by PTA or the thieves will be traced and asked to return the devices to the owners, the spokesperson added.

    “PTA has devised a system in this regard,” the spokesperson further said.
