Apple devices with a local Indian language character suffered crash due to a particular bug when users tried to update their software.
The apps on those Apple devices with the south Indian language Telugu character suffered crash in software update. The Apple devices were sent on bootloop due to presence of the Telugu letter in either typing or receiving messages which caused popular apps like Gmail, Instagram and WhatsApp to crash.
The Apple devices which suffered the software glitch include iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and TVs and even some desktops. It was seen that whenever a Telugu symbol appeared in their notifications, these devices went on an endless bootloop in which the smart devices only restarted without booting up.
Italian website Mobile World first reported the software bug which was later acknowledged by Apple who said that they are working on the fix.
It was advised that one should immediately clear messages or notification containing Telugu character.
The Guardian reported that Telugu is spoken by at least 80 million people in India and elsewhere combined. It is widely spoken in Indian states including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
In 2015, similar bugs were reported in Apple devices against Arabic, Marathi and other languages.
