Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the Sindh government to take swift and strict action against those involved in the defiling and vandalising of a Hindu temple.

Hindu temple situated in Kumb, a town in Khairpur district of southeastern Pakistani province.

Terming it against the teachings of the Quran, Khan criticized the unholy act in a tweet.

“The govt of Sindh must take swift and decisive action against the perpetrators. This is against the teachings of the Quran,” he wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Earlier on Monday, images of the destruction began circulating on social media.

In the images, the temple was seen attacked with holy scriptures and statues housed within it had been desecrated.

Hindus make up nearly 2 per cent of Pakistan’s population of 207 million, and Hinduism remains the second largest religion in Pakistan after Islam.
