Strict measures have been make to ensure security to Muharram processions in Karachi and other cities of Sindh on 9th and 10th of Muharram.
Imposing two-day ban on motorbike pillion-riding in Karachi and blocking cellular phone services in various town of Sindh, the government has deployed over 25,000 police and Rangers personnel in the metropolis, with army deployment in sensitive areas.
On the directives of Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, the law enforcing agencies have been put on high alert to deal with any eventuality, officials said.

Officials said link-road connecting to M.A Jinnah Road have been sealed with containers, with snipers deployed on roof tops along procession routes.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have also been installed to closely monitor activities on the procession routes. A Command and Control Center is overseeing the monitoring.
The mobile phone service has been suspended in Karachi‚ Sukkur‚ Larkana‚ Khairpur and some other cities of the province due to security concerns.
Majalis and mourning processions are being held across the city to highlight the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.s) and his family members in Karbala.
The processions will be taken out on Friday as well on Ashura, the day which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.s).
