Senior PPP leader Khurshid Shah has said on Friday that Nawaz Sharif had himself closed the doors to talks with Asif Zardari when he was Prime Minister recalling that Nawaz Sharif had called off his own invitation when he was holding Prime Minister s office.

Speaking to the media in Sukkhar, Khurshid Shah stressed that many claim to be the champions of democracy yet merely being present in the parliament does not decide whether one is a democratic champion or not.

Khurshid Shah also said that People’s Party does not wish to see the elections getting delayed and wishes to see the parliament s fulfillment of its term.

Shah recalled that those who used to demand Bhutto’s execution are the ones who sing his praise and declare him as their hero, adding that Bhutto had defused the controversy around finality of prophethood in 1973 constitution.

With regard to the Islamabad sit-in, he said that it’s against the teachings of Islam and bad for country’s reputation and that we should instead follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).

He remarked that government has failed to implement its writ in dispersing the protestors because it does not wish to use force and the protestors do not want to disperse either and said that People’s party will keep playing its role of opposition for people’s problems.
