Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Sunday that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had supported democracy but it was cheated in return.

Speaking to a public rally, Khursheed Shah asked former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as to who had weakened the country's institutions.

"I ask you Nawaz Sharif, who divided the institutions and weakened them?" he asked.

Khursheed Shah said that the current rulers had cheated PPP. He said that Nawaz Sharif had taken to the streets during his own government.

"Mian sahib is nowadays asking,'Mujay Kyun Nikala'," he said. "I want to ask you, who weakened state institutions?" he asked.

He said that the situation in the country was so abysmal and Nawaz Sharif had weakened to such an extent that he was on the streets in protest against his own government.

Khursheed Shah said that in 2014, PPP was the one that had saved the government when it was about to go down due to the dharna protests.

He blamed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for starting the politics of abuses.
