Karachi mayor-elect Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday dared the government to bring former military ruler Pervez Musharraf back to Pakistan and try him for treason in connection with the May 12 carnage.

The mayor-elect made this demand while speaking to media persons after his election as mayor of Karachi.

He expressed his gratitude to the people of Karachi for his election as mayor of Karachi.

“My victory is the victory of people. People have elected Wasim Akhtar, Arshad Vohra and MQM despite difficult circumstances,” he said.

“Let bygones be bygones,” he said, urging all stakeholders to work together for the development and peace of Karachi.

“I am happy that the mandate of Karachi has been accepted,” he said. “Whatever happened in the past should be forgotten. Let bygones be bygones,” he said.

“We will take all political parties along. I am not mayor of Karachi, I am mayor of Karachi,” the mayor-designate said.

He also called upon DG Rangers Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar to work together for the restoration of peace in City. “We are part of solution, nor problems,” he said.

To a question, he slammed attempts to implicate him in May 12 carnage and dared the government to try Pervez Musharraf under treason charges for May 12 carnage and then implicate him.

“I reject fake allegations of my involvement in May 12 carnage. The May 12 happened due to the then deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and when he was restored, he did not bother to touch the May 12 case.
