    The nominated Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar confessed that he had given directions to do firing in 12 May 2007 incident, according to report submitted by police.

    Police submitted the report in court, according to which, Waseem Akhtar confessed during interrogations that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers fired on his directions when Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry came to Karachi.

    Waseem Akhtar also told that, among those who gave directions were 15 other officials of their party.

    He told names of Kamran Farooqi, Umair Siddiqui, Muzammil Hashmi, Shujaat Hashmi and others.

    Police report also said that Waseem Akhtar offered to provide help in reaching the culprits and they also arrested an accused Aslam elias Kala after Waseem Akhtar told them about him.
