In Karachi‚ the death toll due to fire at a garment factory has risen to one hundred and twenty-five.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have expressed grief over the tragedy and directed the authorities concerned to provide every possible assistance to the victims. PML(N) Chief Nawaz Sharif and MQM Chief Altaf Hussain have expressed grief and sorrow over the tragedy. The medico-legal officer of the Provincial Government Dr.Tariq Kamal told our Karachi correspondent sixty-one bodies have reached Civil Hospital‚ thirty four at Jinnah Hospital and five at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He said‚ out of there forty-one dead bodies have been identified at the Civil Hospital and fourteen at the Jinnah Hospital. All the fifty-five identified dead bodies have been handed over to their heirs. In order to identify the remaining dead bodies‚ the process of DNA has also been initiated.
