Earlier in September, the LHC had Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general to reply to a petition against use of Punjab University’s playground for the construction of Orange Line Metro Train Project.

The judge remarked that apparently, it seems as if the court might have to refer the matter to the National Accountability Bureau.

The judge also remarked that no concession would be given to violators.

Punjab University counsel Awais Malik submitted the contract about handing over PU playground to a construction company. According to the judge, Ahad Cheema and PU former vice chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran had signed an agreement with the construction company.

PU Counsel Abdullah Malik said that under the law, a land allotted for the park could not be acquired for any other purposes. He said that the PU administration acted against law for this contract with a private company.

LHC Justice Shahid Kareem had in December, 2016 declared the appointment of then acting vice chancellor Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran as illegal.
