    NAB arrests Bismillah Services Chief Executive in Ashiana Housing probe File photo

    National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested the Chief Executive (CE) of Bismillah Engineering Services reportedly upon identification of Ahad Cheema.

    Shahid Shafiq was arrested on Saturday after it was discovered that Rs.14bn contract had been granted to Bismillah Services despite the company being a C-4 category subsidiary company of Paragon City. Shahid is the brother of Paragon Society Chief Executive Nadeem Zia.

    According to sources from NAB, the bureau will attempt to obtain Shafiq’s 15-day physical remand from court. NAB also obtained important data from Cheema’s mobile phone and laptop. NAB also categorically stated Ahad Cheema’s arrest was according to the constitution and that no influence would be taken into account from any quarter.

    In solidarity with the accused Ahad Cheema, a high-level meeting was held in GOR headed by the Chief Secretary Punjab in which clipping the powers of Chairman NAB through an ordinance was mulled.

    On political front, after Imran Khan deemed Cheema as the front man of CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif. To this, Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah asked Imran Khan to prove his allegations or apologize.
