A lawyer was shot dead and another one sustained injuries following a clash between them at Lahore sessions court on Tuesday.

According to details, the two lawyers engaged into a fight with each other following a longstanding property dispute. One of them resorted to firing and killed the other. The suspect was immediately taken into custody by the police.

The deceased has been identified as advocate Rana Nadeem and was the cousin of the suspect. Following the incident, security was tightened and all the entry points of the court were shut down.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz while taking notice of the incident has summoned report from the relevant authorities. DIG Operations have also summoned report in the next two hours.

This is the second such incident in the sessions court this month. Earlier, a murder accused and a police officer were gunned down as two groups resorted to firing in the premises of session court.

The recent event has once again exposed the poor security arrangements and safety lapses in the court.
