Suspect Imran Ali in Zainab murder case has said on Friday that he had subjected the murdered minor girl to brutality and that he does not deserve to be pardoned.
Sources reported that the suspect confessed to torturing the minor girl and killing her after rape in Kasur last month, during court’s proceedings today headed by anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge Sajjad Ahmed in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
In his confessional statement, Imran Ali said that he does not need any legal assistance and that the bigger the punishment for what he has done the less it is.
Imran Ali was held in February in Kasur after authorities collected DNA samples of over 1,000 locals after seven-year-old Zainab’s body was found in a heap of trash days after she had gone missing.
Medical report concerning the slain minor revealed that she was raped before murder.
Suspect Imran Ali was taken in custody after her DNA sample matched with that collected of body of the victim among eight kids murdered in the past.
It is the first time in Pakistan’s history that a trial was completed in four days with 13-hour-long proceedings daily. ATC judge Sajjad Ahmad reserved the verdict today and is scheduled to be announced on February 17.
The verdict was reserved today in conclusive hearing of the case after he was remanded in custody of police for 14 days on physical remand late Janaury.
