Rawalpindi customs department seized a smuggled and non-custom paid car allegedly owned by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan.

A Toyota land cruiser was recovered in Islamabad from Awan’s driver as the customs took the action after receiving intelligence-based information. Rawalpindi customs registered case against Awan’s driver after arresting him and seizing the car.

It was verified immediately that the car is non-custom paid and smuggled as the chassis number had been tempered. The arrested driver confessed before the law enforcers that the vehicle belonged to Awan.

On the other hand, Awan has rejected all claims and stated that the vehicle belonged to her cousin which she borrowed after having an accident with her own car. “Both the car and driver belong to my cousin Tehsin Awan who should be asked whether the vehicle is legal or illegal,” she argued before the media.
