Corruption, lack of fair accountability has weakened country's roots: Punjab CM Corruption, lack of fair accountability has weakened country's roots: Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday visited Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum on his 140th birth anniversary.

He laid a floral wreath on Iqbal’s mausoleum and offered Fateha. The CM also recorded his impression in the Visitors Book.

While talking to media, he asserted that the biggest hurdle impeding the development of the country is corruption and elimination of fair accountability system.

“We have to review what steps have been taken to stop corruption till now,” he said. Punjab CM maintained that corruption worth billion of rupees has been done in the country and everyone knows who is behind it.

He said that Iqbal’s poetry and ideas also serve as a guidance in the present era. “It is still questionable today how much have we followed Iqbal’s sayings. We are plunging even today despite existence of Iqbal’s thoughts and ideas,” said the CM.

Separately, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana also visited the mausoleum. He offered Fateha and laid floral wreath at the tomb.
