  • Power load shedding will be eliminated by early next year: Prime Minister

    Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says the journey of the progress and development of the country will continue despite the hurdles of the opponents.He was addressing a function in connection with the completion of tunnels of Neelum Jehlum HydroPower Project near Muzaffarabad on Friday.

    He said PML-N will win the next general elections of the basis of its performance and those doing the politics of sit-ins will be exposed.

    He said the major challenges facing the country are due to non-serious behavior of the previous governments.

    The Prime Minister said that some elements are used to criticize the government at all the forums. He said they are creating hurdles in the path of progress and development of the country.

    The Nawaz Sharif said that when the government took over the country was facing worst form of load shedding.

    He said with the completion of the power projects the country will get rid of power load shedding by next year.He said the government is committed and seriously perusing all the development projects for the betterment of the masses.

    The Prime Minister said that when the government took over the country was facing serious challenges like power load shedding, terrorism.He said the government has addressed all the challenges effectively and now the country has been put on the path of progress and development.

    He said the law and order situation in the country has improves and the terrorists are at run.He said the energy situation has improved and will further improve by next year. He said there is zero load shedding for industrial sector.

    The Prime Minister said that Neelam Jhelum project will produce 969 megawatt of electricity.He said the completion of the 68 kilometers tunnel of the project was a gigantic task.

    He said that hydel, coal, solar and wind power projects have been started to meet the energy demand of the country.He said that by the beginning of the next year 10,000 megawatt will be added in the system.

    He said the power projects started by the government will generate more energy as compared to the projects started during the last seventy years.He said the projects started by the government are near to completion and some have been completed.

    He said several energy projects have also been started under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.He said the economy of the country has been strengthened.

    He said the GDP growth rate of the country will reach seven percent by the end of the tenure of the government.He said the international organizations and rating agencies have also recognized the economic progress of the country.Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N believes in the progress and development if the country.

    He said those leveling baseless allegations should open their eyes and so that they can see the development projects started by the government.He said the elements protesting against the power load shedding are actually the originator of this issue.He said the sit-ins have badly affected the development process of the country.

    He said the CPEC was delayed for eight months due to the sit-ins.

    He said the politics of those who misled the masses of the country will die its death in the next general elections.92% construction work has been completed on the project, involving extensive tunnels excavation work in one of the hardest terrains.

    First unit of Neelum Jhelum HydroPower Project will start electricity generation by the end of February next year while the second unit in mid March, whereas the third and the fourth unit will be completed in April next year.

    The strategically important 969 MW-Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project will mark a major milestone towards its completion, as excavation of about 68-kilometer long tunnels system of the project will stand completed, when the second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) deployed on the project will break through the Right Headrace Tunnel.With this significant development, the water way system of the project will enter the final phase which is scheduled to be completed in seven months.

    Thereafter, the tunnels will be ready to divert water from Dam site to Power House.
