  • 5.1-magnitude earthquake hits upper parts of Pakistan

    Numerous cities in the north of the country experienced tremors Saturday evening.

    Tremors were felt in Peshawar, Khyber Agency, Kurram Agency, Malakand Agency, Swat and Tarbela Ghazi.

    The earthquake, which was recorded as 5.1 in terms of magnitude as per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), had its epicenter about 35 kilometres from Parachinar and was at a depth of over 35 kilometres.

    On October 28, earthquake tremors jolted several parts of the country.

    Tremors were felt in Islamabad and adjoining areas, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

    According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake was recorded at 5.9 on the Richter Scale.

    The earthquake struck at a depth of 38 kilomete and its epicentre was Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan, PMD said.
