  • Cordon & search operations launched in IOK

    In occupied Kashmir, Indian army, police and Central Reserve Police Force have jointly launched cordon and search operations in Pulwama, Islamabad, Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

    The troops sealed all entry and exit points and launched house-to-house search operations in different areas of the districts. Clashes were reported between youth and the Indian troops in many areas. The troops fired teargas shells on the protesters.

    The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar today said that government of India had adopted as part of ploy a multipronged strategy to break the resolve of the people and crush the movement. The leadership expressed deep resentment over the statement of Mehbooba Mufti mocking at Kashmiri people by calling them agitators first and beggars later.

    The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar criticized former puppet Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah for his controversial statement on Kashmir. He said that power-hungry pro-India Kashmiri politicians had always served the interests of their masters in New Delhi. Farooq Abdullah in his statement had ruled out freedom for occupied Kashmir. Syed Ali Gilani said that Kashmiri people were offering sacrifices to achieve their right to self-determination.

    Speakers at a seminar in Srinagar condemned the use of brutal force against Kashmiri youth by Indian forces in the occupied territory. The seminar titled ‘Kashmir Issue and Role of Youth’ was organized by a civil society group at Nigeen in Srinagar, and was attended by a large number of people including Hurriyat leaders, lawyers and pellet victims. Those who spoke on the occasion included Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed and Muhammad Ashraf Butt.

    Hurriyat leaders Zafar Akbar Butt and Javid Ahmed Mir visited the families of martyrs and political detainees during their visit to Soura, Nowhatta,Hawal and other areas of Srinagar and expressed solidarity with them. The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, in a statement issued in Srinagar asked the Indian authorities to stop arrest and harassment of youth in the territory.

    Meanwhile, renowned Indian lawyer and constitutional expert, A.G Noorani, in a long essay has written that Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh was working on a plan to make Jammu and Kashmir a Hindu state. A.G Noorani said he sees the demand for a holiday on Hari Singh’s birthday as part of the same campaign.
