    Senior Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed got the powers of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir till the election of the new Leader of the House After the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in the contempt of court case.

    Azad Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry signed the summary to give the authority of the prime minister to the senior minister till the election of the new Leader of the House.

    Later, a notification was issued with the signatures of the Chief Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir according to which Khawaja Farooq will perform the duties till the election of the new Prime Minister.

    It should be noted that on the last day the court sentenced Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas until the dismissal of the court and declared him ineligible for any public office while his request for unconditional amnesty was also rejected.

    Sardar Tanveer Ilyas came to the assembly after winning the election from LA 15 Bagh constituency, he was elected as a member of the assembly on 27 July 2021 and he was sworn in as the prime minister on 18 April 2022.
