  • Ali Zaidi reiterates to clean Karachi nullahs before Eid ul Adha

    Federal Minister for Maritime affairs Ali Zaidi on Saturday reiterated that all nullahs of Karachi would be cleaned before next rain. He said the campaign to clean the metropolis city would start tomorrow (Sunday).

    Talking to media, he praised the efforts of mayor Karachi and said garbage from the nullahs would be cleaned by 14 August. He said our first task would be to clean those nullahs that have stopped water channel due to excessive garbage.

    He said government is working with Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhter on the chalking issue. Zaidi said mayor has shared important data with federal government, adding that “I am also thankful to CM Murad and minister Saeed Ghani for their support.”

    PTI leader appealed to public to leave their garbage to dumpers in those areas where dumpers cannot reach. He further said the cleanliness campaign cannot succeed without the support of public.

    He said KMC and DMC are with us and machinery and loaders are being arranged for the campaign. He said FWO will supervise the campaign.

    Zaidi said sewrage water from 38 nullahs falls in sea, adding thatfede encroachments have been made on nullahs. He said those who are ending encroachments would get houses on priority basis in Naya Pakistan housing Scheme. He said the Karachiites will have to take the ownership of this campaign.

    He said shopping bags have been banned in Islamabad and I request Sindh government to ban plastic bags in Sindh too.
