The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to halt its operation against licensed stalls until the next hearing on September 9.

The order was given by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani on a petition collectively filed by 45 stall owners.

The petitioner’s counsel Haseeb Hasan told the court that the stalls were established after the CDA issued licences. However, an operation against them was now launched.

He added that the CDA re-issued licenses on May 28, 2018, after an intervention by a committee of the National Assembly. However, CDA’s encroachment director was persistent to demolish them.

The counsel said that their version on the matter was never heard.

The court summoned detailed answers from the CDA chairman, Islamabad mayor and Islamabad chief commissioner in the next hearing. The enforcement and environmental departments’ directors were also directed to submit clarifications.
