Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi has renewed Pakistan’s resolve to continue extending cooperation for global peace and stability.

Speaking at an event organised in connection with Pakistan Day at Pakistan Mission to United Nations in New York, she said the country was on the path to progress and prosperity under a new leadership.

Lodhi said Pakistan will continue to support efforts for international peace and stability.

A cake was also cut on the occasion to mark the day.

The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day on Saturday across the country with traditional zeal and fervor.

Pakistan Day marks the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, when Muslims of the Subcontinent demanded the establishment of a separate homeland to safeguard their rights.

A 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals welcomed the day. Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for progress, prosperity and sovereignty of the country.
