    German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday at the PM House.

    According to sources, the prime minister and German foreign minister discussed Pak-India tension and the peace overtures made by Pakistan.

    The two also discussed Pak-German relations and the security situation in the region.

    Prior to meeting the prime minister, Maas met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

    In a news conference following their meeting, Qureshi said the government is ensuring implementation of the National Action Plan.

    "Pakistan is taking steps to deal with extremism in consultation with the political leadership," Qureshi added.

    The German foreign minister suggested that negotiations be held for de-escalation in tensions between Pakistan and India and for resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

    Foreign Minister Heiko Maas acknowledged Pakistan's role in the ongoing Afghan peace process. He said Germany and Pakistan enjoy good relations and reaffirmed further cooperation with Pakistan in trade as well as other sectors.
