Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said Pakistan’s position would have been different if the country had carried out timely implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

"With timely NAP implementation, India wouldn’t have any basis for accusations against Pakistan and Pakistan would have evidence to present about teh steps taken by the country against extremism," Bilawal said in an interview with BBC Urdu.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have been high following the Pulwama attack in occupied Kashmir.

India without any proof blamed Pakistan for harbouring militants behind the attack.

Speaking about his party, the PPP chairman said, everything was being done against his party and the constitution was not being followed.

“From the time of Ayub Khan to the era of Zia-ul-Haq, our political party has heard, that accountability first and then selection. The 90s were all about political engineering,” Bilawal said.

The PPP chairman continued, “We need a proper system of accountability, where accountability is for everyone. It would be better if accountability was done once so that everything would become clear.”

Criticising the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Bilawal said, “NAB was only created to pressurise political parties. If the rule of law was established, there would be no problem today.”

“Article 10 A gives every citizen the right to a free and transparent trial. The public is not getting their free and transparent trial. It has become a joke,” he added.
