    Accountability Court resumed hearing against former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for owning assets disproportionate to his declared income today, Thursday.

    The involved culprits Naeem Mohammad and Mansoor Rizvi were present in Accountability Court.

    Whereas, the court accepted Culprit Saeed Ahmed’s plea for exemption in today’s hearing.

    The prosecuting witness Inam Akbar was also present during today’s hearing of Assets beyond means case.

    The lawyer of Mansoor and Naeem Ahmed said that the called upon witnesses were not related to his clients.

    Therefore, Accountability Court has summoned more witnesses for the next hearing of the case.

    Nonetheless, the court adjourned next hearing of the case till November 28.

    Earlier on November 14, the Accountability Court adjourned hearing till November 22.

    During the hearing against Ishaq Dar, Former President of national Bank Saeed Ahmed was also present in the court.The Co-accused Former President of National Bank Saeed Ahmed’s Lawyer told before the court that the prosecuting witness Tariq Javed is not related to his client, Saeed Ahmed.

    Accountability Court has summoned two more prosecuting witnesses in the next hearing of assets beyond the income case and adjourned the hearing till November 22.

    Earlier on October 24, Ishaq Dar’s wife challenged the verdict of the accountability court pertaining to auctioning of Dar’s property. Tabassum Ishaq Dar filed the appeal in the accountability court. Tabassum—in her petition—stated that she is the sole owner of the house located in Lahore’s Gulberg area. “I will suffer loss if the house is seized by the officials”, claimed Dar’s wife.

    The court issued notice to the prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imran Shafique and summoned counter-arguments on November 7.

    Likewise, Tabassum also raised objections on freezing of a bank account linked to Hajvery Foundation. She requested court to allow her using funds from the frozen account.The court issued notice to NAB’s prosecutor and also provided him a copy of Tabassum’s petition. Later, the hearing was adjourned till Nov 7.

    Earlier on October 10, the progress report on the auction of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s assets was submitted in the accountability court.

    The seizure of Dar’s assets was ordered after he did not appear before the accountability court in the case pertaining to the accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.

    Investigation officer Nadir Abbas submitted report on the seizure of assets, in which it has been stated National Accountability Bureau has provided details on Dar’s accounts to the Punjab government.According to the report, the accounts belonging to Dar and his companies hold more than Rs500.8 million that have been seized by the Punjab government.

    Moreover, the provincial government also seized Dar’s house in Gulberg 3, Lahore, while the six acres land in Malot, Islamabad were sold before the investigation into the case began, the report further stated.

    Three plots belonging to Dar in a housing society were also seized over court orders in December 2017.
