Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Afridi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed for preparation of a master plan for Islamabad, which will soon be implemented.

Addressing a joint news conference with Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Capital Development Authority, Ali Nawaz Awan, in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said a commission will be formed for preparing the master plan which will be headed by a professional.

He said action is being taken against the land grabbers without any discrimination and in this regard all the legal requirements are being fulfilled before nabbing them.

He said those who facilitated, protected or promoted the land grabbers whether they were from the district administration, police or CDA will not be spared.

Shehryar Afridi said 33,000 Kanals of land has been recovered in two villages of Islamabad from illegal occupants.

He said that Islamabad was designed for a population of six hundred thousand people, but now its population has crossed two million and no master plan has ever been prepared during the last twenty years.

He said the presence of encroachments in Islamabad is due to non-availability of an effective plan of action.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister's Special Assistant on CDA, Ali Nawaz Awan said major operations will be launched against the land grabbers in the coming days and Islamabad will change within next six months.

He said a policy is being devised for the residents of the slums in Islamabad.

Ali Nawaz Awan said it is PTI's visions not to dislocate the residents of slums without any plan for their rehabilitation.
