A heated exchange of words took place between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen during a meeting of the party's core group on Tuesday, sources.
Sources said the two senior leaders traded barbs over another PTI member Rai Hassan Nawaz, whose disqualification came under discussion at the meeting by Qureshi.
Qureshi challenged Nawaz's eligibility within the party, they said. He objected to Nawaz keeping party post and his participation in meetings.
The sources said that at this Tareen interrupted telling Qureshi, 'Shah sahib, your remark is aimed at me.'
PTI chief Imran Khan eventually intervened, sources said further, and announced removing Nawaz from PTI parliamentary board.
The matter was resolved after Khan's announcement, they added.
Meanwhile, a PTI spokesman denied media reports regarding senior party leaders terming them "regretful and condemnable." He said the reports were based on speculation.
"PTI leadership in united and important decision were made at today's meeting through consultation and consensus," the spokesman added.
