Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on Monday have been granted exemption from hearing of Avenfield reference for one day as they failed to reach Islamabad due to bad weather.

During the proceedings headed by Justice Mohammad Bahsir, Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz submitted exemption plea of his clients which was accepted by the court. However, Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared in the court.

Lawyer Amjad Pervaiz will continue cross-examination of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia.

During pervious hearing defence lawyer Amjad Pervaiz quizzed JIT head Wajid Zia regarding trust deed, Robert Redley report and Maryam Nawaz’s appearance before the JIT.

It is pertinent to mention here that Wajid Zia is the last witness of NAB and after him NAB’s investigation officer will record his statement before the accountability court.
