Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar Thursday took notice of alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl before she was set alight in Chichawatni.

The victim’s family and their neighbours had appealed to the CJP to provide them justice.

Earlier on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a committee to probe the alleged rape of a minor girl before she was set alight in Chichawatni.

Eight-year-old Noor Fatima had gone missing on Monday after she left her home to buy sweets from a nearby shop. Three hours later, the family found the girl with 90 percent of her body burnt.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital from where she was referred to the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore an succumbed to her wounds there on Tuesday.

The post-mortem report confirmed that eight-year-old Noor Fatima was raped before being burnt. The minor girl was then laid to rest amid tears and wails.

A complete shutter-down strike was observed by Anjuman-e-Tajran in Chichawatni follwing the brutal incident.

Police had arrested a suspect, identified as Imdad.
