Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday, referring to a recent incident in Khanewal, said the Chinese are ‘guests’ working in Pakistan for the development of the country.

.Speaking to media in Islamabad, the interior minister said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is this century’s best chance for development and growth. “The enemies are losing sleep over this,” he said.

Referring to the incident in Khanewal where Chinese engineers and police traded blows after an argument, the interior minister said anyone who takes the law in their hands would be punished. However, he added, “Pakistani workers in Gulf countries also get into many fights.”

Referring to the recent sit-ins, Iqbal said they were against the development and global identity of Pakistan. “Khatm-e-Nabuwat is an issue for all Muslims, not just one party or cleric.”

Stating that the enemies are using this to portray Pakistan as a religious extremist state, he said: “we have to save Pakistan from global politics and conspiracy.”

“Enemies are trying to instill violence as elections near. Political and religious parties should not let the situation become unstable,” he added further

He also asked parties to refrain from inciting hatred against one another during rallies and speeches.
