The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday has recommended the formation of larger bench to hear contempt court case against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
Announcing the written verdict by Justice Mazahir Naqvi in contempt court case termed that the contempt of court was one of the crucial and sensitive issue, thefore a larger bench should be formed to hear the case.
“There are several petition of contempt of court against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been under hearing process, therefore there is need to club all these petition,” court said in its verdict.On the petition of Azhar Siddique LHC summoned the secretary Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) on March 29 along with concern record.
The petitioner told the court that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been campaigning against the judiciary and were trying to make the judiciary controversial as their speeches came under the contempt of court law, therefore court should order the PEMRA to ban the airing of their speeches.
