    Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) at its meeting in Islamabad today (Friday) approved the power generation by four Independent Power Producers (IPPs) from the Refined Liquid Natural Gas (RLNG).

    The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The power plants include Saif Power Limited, Orient Power Limited, Halmore Power Generation Company and Saphire Electric Company limited.

    These IPPs have dual fuel plants which can be operated on natural gas as a primary fuel and high speed diesel as secondary fuel. The operations of these IPPs on RLNG will result in significant cost saving each month.

    The ECC also permitted extension in the deadline of export of forty one thousand metric tons surplus urea till 28th February out of which an additional quantity of thirty five thousand metric tons urea to be exported to Sri Lanka.
    The meeting also approved a proposal for extension in the date for applicability of reduced withholding tax at the rate of 0.4 percent for non-filers till 30th June.
