Park View City, one of the most well-known private housing societies in Pakistan, has come under fire for using brutal force against its residents after they accused the management of extorting new development charges without prior agreement or transparency.

Residents report receiving formal letters via a private courier service demanding payment for new development charges. This demand sparked widespread outrage among the community, prompting many to take to the streets in protest.

An image confirming the charges demanded by the society is being circulated as proof of the extortion.

According to multiple residents, what followed was even more disturbing. As peaceful protests grew, the housing society allegedly responded with brute force.

Eyewitness accounts describe security personnel using violence to suppress the demonstrators. As a result, several residents — including women, children, and the elderly — sustained serious injuries.

The incident quickly went viral across social media platforms, drawing attention and criticism.

In response to the public backlash, Park View City’s CEO, Omer Farooq, issued a video statement claiming that the development charges had been waived entirely.

However, when ProPakistani reached out for written confirmation of the waiver, the society’s management stated that residents had been “internally notified.”

Residents, on the other hand, say they have yet to receive any formal communication confirming the decision.

“We got the demand letters through a courier service. Why can’t they send the waiver notice the same way?” one resident asked.
