  • Export of Chinese goods via Gwadar a successful step

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice President Shaikh Khalid Tawab has said that the successful export of Chinese goods through Gwadar is a giant step towards the success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He appreciated the efforts of the prime minister for taking significant interest in the completion and activation of Gwadar Port, monitoring and implementation of CPEC projects well in time.

Pakistan and China have successfully established sea and road links with the deep seaport of Gwadar and expect that the trading activity on CPEC and Gwadar Port will flourish in the coming months, he said in a statement on Monday.

This will also give a message to the international community that Pakistan is a safe country for economic and trade activities. He said that the opening of CPEC and operationalising of Gwadar port would attract foreign direct investment (FDI) because it is a mega project which will benefit the whole region and bring prosperity and development.

“Pakistan’s economy is emerging under CPEC; the Central Asian countries have the shortest access to sea via Gwadar Port which is a unique opportunity to tap these markets for accelerating bilateral trade with these countries,” said Tawab.

The successful implementation of CPEC projects will be a game changer for the people of Pakistan in terms of new economic opportunities leading to higher incomes and significant improvements in living standards. He urged the business community of Pakistan to come forward and take benefit of the new emerging opportunities.

Moreover, he said that the local entrepreneurs will also be provided a level playing field by allowing them the same incentives and concession as available to the Chinese investors and traders under CPEC.
