    For the first time this year the BAFTA film awards has made it mandatory for films competing in two categories -

    outstanding British film and outstanding debut - to comply with two out of four of the British Film Institute's diversity standards.Marking that commitment to diversity, a non-English language film won best picture - and a film predominantly featuring women took home more awards than any others.

    Alfonso Cuaron's semi-autobiographical story of his own upbringing in Mexico City, follows the life of a live-in housekeeper of a middle-class family.

    The Favourite is a period drama set in the court of Queen Anne, examining the battle between two cousins attempting to win her favour.Olivia Colman portrayed Queen Anne in a widely applauded performance that won her a BAFTAs for best leading actress.
