    There was a time when the world's biggest celebrities retained an air of mystery, when you couldn't tap a screen to see what they had for tea last night, or the fancy wallpaper in the downstairs loo.

    Let's be honest, we all like to have a nose when it comes to the lifestyles of the rich and famous, but getting a glimpse of that world for those stars who lived before the age of social media is even more intriguing.

    In a new book, Rock Stars At Home, six music journalists - Chris Charlesworth, Eddi Fiegel, Bryan Reesman, Colin Salter, Simon Spence and Daryl Easlea - do just that, with intimate photographs of some of the world's greatest ever musicians, including David Bowie, Elton John, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Tina Turner, Noel Gallagher, Prince... the list goes on.

    The singer bought Hi Lo Ha, in Woodstock, New York - an 11-room arts and crafts mansion dating back to the start of the century - for $12,000 in 1965, and lived there until 1969.
