  • Teen stabs teacher to death to stop phone call to his parents about his grades

A teenager has been sentenced to life in prison after stabbing his high school teacher to death last year when the teacher was about to call his mom about his grades.

The slaying occurred on November 12th, 2017 in the Hunan city of Yiyang. The teen, surnamed Luo, was 16 years old at the time and the teacher, surnamed Bao, was 47. The murder occurred because Luo was unhappy with his teacher’s criticism and was afraid of his parents finding out about his performance. He stabbed Bao more than a dozen times.

According to The Paper, Bao was an excellent teacher while Luo grades were among the best in the class.

The teen could have been sentenced to death but was given a lighter sentence instead because of his young age and the fact that he admitted to the crime. In China, the age of criminal responsibility is 14.

On Weibo, Chinese netizens have put much of the blame on the child’s parents, speculating that they must have put too much pressure on him and failed to raise him properly. Back in 2013, a high school student in Jiangxi province slit his teacher’s throat for having confiscated his mobile phone.
