  • 5 Days workshop on Applied Economics inaugurates at School of Economics, QAU

    A 5 Days workshop on Applied Economics organized by School of Economics, Quaid-i-Azam University in collaboration with HEC inaugurated here at QAU.

    The Main objective of the workshop was to introduce statistical tools available in Econometrics software Eviews, RATS, Stata, SPSS and LaTeX to the young scholars. During these five days various underlying econometric techniques will be discussed in detail that can easily be applied by using the software. Almost eighty one faculty members, PhD and MPhil students, and researchers from thirty-three universities/Institutes have participated in the workshop.

    Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor QAU, formally inaugurated the workshop. While addressing the participants he appreciated the efforts of the faculty of School of Economics for conducting the workshop. He mentioned that QAU should keep on playing active role of capacity builder for empirical research in various institutes.

    “The use of software is increasing day by day in qualitative as well as in quantitative research. Therefore developing a better understanding to these software, will enable researchers to conduct their research of good quality” said the Vice Chancellor. He assured the participants that such events in QAU will continue in future on a regular basis.

    Earlier Dr. Mazhar Iqbal, incharge school of Economics, welcomed participants of the workshop while Dr. Muhammad Jamil, Principal organizer, gave a complete overview of the workshop. At the end, Prof. Dr. Aliya H. Khan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, gave a vote of thanks to the participants, resource persons and the chief guest Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad.

    This is the third workshop of the series. Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad, Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Dr. Abdul Jalil, Dr. Wasim Shahid Malik, Dr. Muhammad Jamil, Dr. Tahir Mahmood and Dr. Anwar Shah are among the resource persons for the workshop.
