    The private schools’ association has issued a tentative schedule to reopen institutions without approval from the government. According to reports, all private schools and colleges will resume regular classes on January 11, 2021.

    Representatives of the private schools’ association met in a session earlier today, where the announcement for the resumption of regular classes was reportedly made.

    As per reports, the private association issued a joint statement to open all schools and colleges before a review meeting of the federal government for taking a final decision. A representative for the association later said that the strategy for reopening schools will be finalized in the next few weeks.

    The federal government had announced the closure of all educational institutions in November amidst the second COVID-19 wave that hit the country with extreme severity. Initially, all institutions were to remain closed from November 26 to December 24. Shafqat Mehmood announced that,

    All educational institutions will remain closed across Pakistan from November 26 till December 24 and winter vacations will be started from December 25 to January 10.

    The federal education minister was hopeful that all institutions would open from January 11, after reviewing definitive progress against the ongoing pandemic. He later added that the situation would be subjected to further evaluation in the first week of January 2021.

    Meanwhile, the private schools’ association maintains its stance on reopening all educational institutions in the second week of January. Today’s statement from the administrations of private schools was released amid a vicious rise in COVID-19 contraction and mortality rate.
