    "We encourage all nations that import Venezuelan oil to take appropriate steps to ensure that any payments are made into accounts not subject to plundering by Maduro and his cronies," Bolton tweeted. "Venezuela's ample natural resources must benefit the people of Venezuela!"

    The United States has seized billions of Dollars in Venezuelan oil assets after backing opposition leader Juan Guaido last month in his bid to oust Maduro.

    Bolton has said a transition of power in Caracas would have the added benefit of allow US energy companies to explore opportunities in Venezuela.

    Russia and several other countries have come forward to support Maduro as the only legitimate democratically elected president of Venezuela.
