Ivanka Trump has called for an end to sexual harassment in the workplace, while conspicuously failing to mention a series of claims surrounding her father.
The US President’s daughter delivered a rallying cry for “appropriate respect” as she made an impassioned speech on women’s empowerment in Tokyo.
But many responded to the comments by pointing out Mr Trump may face legal action for allegedly groping at least two women, including one who said he grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt.
The first daughter spoke out in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal – which has sparked an avalanche of claims against other Hollywood heavyweights including Kevin Spacey.
Ms Trump, speaking at the World Assembly for Women, said: "All too often, our workplace culture fails to treat women with appropriate respect. This takes all forms, including harassment, which can never be tolerated. Our workplaces must mirror our values: work and family."
But critics hit out at her speech in light of allegations her father groped two women and sexually harassed at least 16 others.
One wrote on Twitter: “Was she referring to her father?”, while another posted: “Was she using her father as an example?”
Mr Trump’s White House campaign appeared it could be derailed after he said in a leaked recording that his tycoon profile meant it gave him the power to target women.
Jessica Leeds claimed she was forced to flee the president when he grabbed her breasts on a flight three decades ago, saying he was “like an octopus … his hands were everywhere.”
Summer Zervos, a former The Apprentice contestant – a show which Mr Trump starred in – claimed the tycoon kissed her aggressively and touched her breast.
She has taken a defamation case against Mr Trump after he dismissed the numerous sexual harassment claims against him as "lies".
Some analysts believe it could open the door to legal action against Mr Trump if lawyers are forced to dig through the testimonies made against him.
Meanwhile, the President will start his first official Asia tour in Japan on Sunday. He is expected to meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and meet Emperor Akihito and relatives of people abducted by North Korea.
