Afghan security officials say at least three civilians were wounded on September 24 when a suicide car bomber attacked a Danish military convoy from the NATO-led international mission in Kabul.

Captain William Salvin, a spokesman for NATO’s Resolute Support mission, confirmed that an attack had taken place in the Afghan capital.

Salvin said no forces from the NATO-led mission were injured or killed by the explosion. He said NATO forces were sent to the scene of the attack to recover a damaged Danish military vehicle.

A Taliban spokesman said a Taliban fighter carried out the attack, claiming up to 16 U.S. soldiers were killed or injured.

Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry confirmed that three civilians injured by the car bomb attack were taken to a Kabul hospital.

Salam Ahsas, head of investigations for Kabul police, told RFE/RL’s Radio Free Afghanistan that the attack took place near Mount Afshar on Kabul’s volatile west side.
