Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia have placed flowers on Las Ramblas boulevard in Barcelona at the site of the terror attack.

In a ceremony also attended by Barcelona’s mayor Ada Colau and the President of the autonomous region of Catalunya, Carles Puigdemont, they put the flowers down in an area decorated with a mosaic designed by the artist Joan Miro.

The area has been bedecked with flowers by well-wishers since the attack. A crowd gathered at the site greeted the royal couple with applause and calls of “Long live the King!” and “Viva Espana”.

Earlier this, Felipe and Letizia visited two hospitals where injured are hospitalized in Thursday’s attack.

At least 13 people were killed and more than 120 injured in the Las Ramblas attack. A woman died hours later in a foiled attack in the coastal town of Cambrils.
